Raising the NK issue in the Council of Europe is a necessity; Deputies of the "KP" faction hosted Lucas Furlas

On April 25, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the RA National Assembly, Arman Yeghoyan, and the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Mary Galstyan, received the Member of the European Parliament, the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia, Lucas Furlas.

The deputy, who was in Armenia for the first time, visited the Syunik region, where he got acquainted with the work of Azerbaijan to install an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin corridor and officially block the passage.

Arman Yeghoyan noted that this step of Azerbaijan is aimed at the consistent implementation of its policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno Karabakh and the complete depopulation of Nagorno Karabakh. The parliamentarian also informed the European colleague that Azerbaijani officials are already publicly offering the population of Nagorno-Karabakh to receive Azerbaijani passports.

The interlocutors considered it urgent to raise the issue in the European Parliament.

The MPs also discussed issues related to Armenia-European Union cooperation; in particular, the implementation of joint rehabilitation programs in border settlements was highlighted.

At the end of the meeting, the parties also talked about Armenian-Cypriot friendship, issues aimed at overcoming the problems faced by the two peoples.
