"My sincere desire is to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan as soon as possible," Prime Minister (VIDEO)

"Everything is very complicated in relations with Azerbaijan." RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in the National Assembly.

According to him, after the autumn war of 2020, Azerbaijan is in a state of euphoria. It is thinking of taking as much as possible. If possible, "Azerbaijan directly or indirectly becomes or has become an energy and logistics crossroads, and its importance for Russia and some Western countries has increased. But this situation has risks and opportunities," he said, adding that they see risks almost daily, "Perhaps the possibility is that the South Caucasus itself is a big crossroad. The role of Armenia and Georgia is no less important. In this context, the stability and peace of the region can become a consensus between the West and the Russian Federation. If our region explodes again, at least in terms of energy, it could become a problem for Russia and the West," he said.

Pashinyan emphasized that peace also depends on Armenia, "I sincerely desire to do everything possible to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible. Is such a development possible? I think it is possible, but it is necessary to face several problems."

According to Pashinyan, the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan will become a reality if the two countries, without ambiguities and pitfalls, recognize each other's territorial integrity and undertake not to submit territorial claims to each other. Pashinyan noted that he and Aliyev agreed on this in October 2022 in Prague and Sochi, "Nevertheless, official announcements are made from both Yerevan and Baku, accusing the other party of not keeping the agreements. I now want to reaffirm that Armenia fully recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and expects Azerbaijan to do the same, recognizing the entire territory of the Armenian SSR as Armenia."

Pashinyan denied Azerbaijan's claims that Armenia refused to recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in peace treaty negotiations fully, "We proposed that the maps of the Armenian and Azerbaijani SSRs prepared by the USSR, approved by the USSR, be attached to the agreement as a basis for the territorial integrity of the two countries."

According to Pashinyan, this is where we reach the biggest and most complex problem, Nagorno-Karabakh.
