On April 17, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan received the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Armenia Thomas Mühlmann (residence: Tbilisi) in connection with handing over a copy of their credentials.
Congratulating on assuming the post, Paruyr Hovhannisyan wished success to the ambassador and expressed hope that the progress and success of relations between Armenia and Austria will mark his tenure.
At the meeting, the interlocutors referred to the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, highlighted the importance of maintaining the current dynamics of political dialogue, and emphasized the importance of expanding close and effective partnerships in trade, investment, culture, etc. education, and technology.
The interlocutors emphasized parliamentary cooperation and active dialogue between friendly groups. Ambassador Mühlmann thanked me for the reception and assured me that he would invest his maximum efforts in expanding the Armenian-Austrian relations and raising them to a new qualitative level.
Reference was made to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the four-month-long blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and to the provocation of the Azerbaijani side near the Tegh community on April 11. The need to remove the blockage of the Lachin Corridor was stressed by 2020 to the obligations assumed by the tripartite declaration of November 9.
