The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Japan referred to issues related to regional security and stability

On January 31, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

During the telephone conversation, regional security and stability issues were discussed.

Minister Mirzoyan presented to his Japanese counterpart the details of the humanitarian crisis caused by Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions are a gross violation of the tripartite declaration of November 9 and international humanitarian law and are aimed at subjecting the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing.

RA Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for clear steps from the international community to immediately unblock the Lachin Corridor and ensure the unhindered humanitarian access of relevant international structures to Nagorno Karabakh.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented to his colleague the latest developments in regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan's preferential approaches undermine Armenia's peace efforts.

Issues related to the further expansion of the Armenian-Japanese bilateral and multilateral cooperation established on multilateral platforms were also discussed.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized Japan's continuous support to strengthen Armenia's capacities in various fields and institutional development.
