The US welcomes the efforts of the EU to build confidence in the region; embassy

In response to Radar Armenia's inquiry, the US Embassy in Armenia reported that the United States welcomes the efforts of partners, including the European Union, to build trust in the region and provide an environment conducive to direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

We applied to the embassy, asking for a position regarding the EU decision to deploy civilian observers for two years along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The US Embassy in RA answers: "The United States is committed to Armenia-Azerbaijan peace negotiations. We welcome the efforts of our partners, including the European Union, to build confidence in the region and provide a favorable environment for direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan. When effective, we will continue to work with all our partners and directly with the parties."

It should be noted that up to 100 employees, including experts and observers, will be involved in the EU civil mission sent to Armenia for two years, and the task will start functioning in the coming weeks. The mission's operational zone will cover the border with Azerbaijan, including the Nakhichevan section.
