RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched on the return of prisoners, noting that Azerbaijan does not take that step to use it as a lever to put pressure on Armenia.
"Azerbaijan does not return the Armenian prisoners, because it is also a lever to put pressure on Armenia, so that the Armenian government, including under the influence of internal pressure, makes decisions that do not correspond to its interests. And this is also done in violation of the tripartite declaration of November 9. But we will continue our efforts. Are these efforts enough? our assessment is that until the captives are returned, these efforts are insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to find other dimensions to deal with this issue in order to solve the problem," Pashinyan said.
According to Pashinyan, there are missing people not only as a result of the aggression that took place in September, there are also about 200 missing people from the 2020 war. "Now, the commission on the issues of prisoners and missing persons has been reorganized under the leadership of the director of the National Security Service, they are working, they are in communication with the relatives of the prisoners and citizens considered missing. We have to continue working until the problem is solved."
