The UN Secretary-General calls for free and safe movement through the Lachin Corridor (Armenpress)

"United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres reiterates his call to ensure free and safe movement through the Lachin Corridor. The Secretary General expressed his concerns about the current situation in his statement of December 14, 2022. These concerns were also raised by the Secretariat during the extraordinary session of the Security Council convened at the request of Armenia on December 20, 2022. The Secretary General reaffirms his calls to de-escalate the tension and ensure free and safe movement through the corridor, in accordance with the agreements reached earlier, he expresses his support for the mediation efforts," said the UN Secretary General in response to Armenpress's inquiry. Speaker Duzharik, referring to the fact that Azerbaijan has closed the Lachin Corridor for four weeks, as a result of which a real humanitarian crisis has begun in Artsakh, where around 120,000 residents are under siege.

"The UN representative offices in Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to maintain open contact with the authorities and international organizations on the ground and are ready to respond if there is an application and the conditions allow," said the spokesperson of the UN Secretary General.
