The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and the chairman of the city council, Paul Gregorian, wrote an official letter to US President Joe Biden about the blockade of Artsakh.
In the letter, they note that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not only trying to undermine Ukraine's democracy. According to the authors of the letter, thanks to Putin's actions, 120,000 citizens of Artsakh are subject to the threat of cold, hunger, and a shortage of medicine. It is emphasized that the blockade of Artsakh was carried out by the Azerbaijani dictator Aliyev with the support of the Russian military, who are keeping 120 thousand of people in captivity.
The mayor of Los Angeles and the city council chairman called on Biden to tackle the humanitarian crisis and show American support to the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. As support measures, they indicated the provision of food and medicine, sending a clear message to Putin and Aliyev that the US requires a safe air route to deliver aid to the people of Artsakh, making diplomatic efforts to establish a direct dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert, insisting that the Russian peacekeepers be replaced. With the international peacekeeping mission, impose sanctions against Azerbaijan.
