The Representative of International Legal Affairs stated on the Facebook page that today, on December 21, the European Court examined the request of the RA government to apply interim measures against Azerbaijan.
"Noting that at the moment the issue of Azerbaijan's control over the "Lachin Corridor" is controversial, as well as taking into account the obligations assumed by Azerbaijan under point 6 of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, in particular, "to guarantee the movement of persons moving through the Lachin Corridor in a bilateral direction, the safety of vehicles and cargo," and recalling the obligations assumed by the European Convention, the European Court decided, based on Rule 39 of the Rules of Court, to oblige Azerbaijan to take all necessary and sufficient measures to provide seriously ill persons who need medical care in Armenia through the "Lachin Corridor" movement, as well as the safe movement of people left homeless on the road or in need of livelihood.
At the same time, the European Court has decided to prioritize complaint No. 4 submitted by Armenia, according to Rule 41 of the Rules of Court.
It should be noted that on December 15, 16, 20, and 21, Armenia submitted a request for an interim measure and additional information to the European Court, asking to apply a temporary measure against Azerbaijan to eliminate the violations of the rights of the civil population as a result of the blocking of the road passing through the "Lachin Corridor,” the post says.
