Deputy of the "KP" faction of the National Assembly, Arman Yeghoyan, published on his "Facebook" page the statement of the head of the delegation of relations with the South Caucasus in the European Parliament, Marina Kalyurand, regarding the closure of the Lachin Corridor. The statement states explicitly:
"I am highly concerned about the actions of the Azerbaijani state authorities and alleged environmental protesters in the Lachin Corridor on December 3 and again since December 12, which led to the closure of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, which is a vital supply route for the Armenian population of the region.
In addition, the gas supply disruption to Nagorno Karabakh through the pipeline passing through the territory controlled by Azerbaijan is of great concern, increasing the risk of severe humanitarian consequences.
Remember that safe movement through the Lachin Corridor is guaranteed by the tripartite statement of November 9. I would like the government of Azerbaijan to fulfill the obligations assumed by this statement and call for maximum restraint both in terms of actions and rhetoric.
Once again, I emphasize the need for a comprehensive peace agreement, which should guarantee the rights and security of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. I call for an urgent resumption of negotiations at the highest level through the mediation of the EU and to de-escalate the situation."
