The Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs presented the situation created around Artsakh to the ambassadors accredited to RA

On December 14, the meeting of RA Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan and RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan with heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia and representatives of international structures took place at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, foreign diplomats were presented with the humanitarian situation caused by the closing of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, the Lachin Corridor, by Azerbaijan on December 12.

In his speech, acting RA Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan noted that Azerbaijan's actions in recent days, including several similar incidents in the Lachin Corridor, continuous violations of the ceasefire regime, disruption of gas supply to Nagorno Karabakh clearly show that the closure of the Lachin Corridor was planned. by the authorities of Azerbaijan and is aimed at creating a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It was emphasized that the actions of the Azerbaijani side are 2020 a gross violation of the tripartite statement of November 9, particularly point 6. In this context, the need for a targeted response to Azerbaijani actions by the international community was emphasized as a means of preventing a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh and the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh Armenians.

Mnatsakan Safaryan also emphasized the need to withdraw the armed forces of Azerbaijan from the sovereign territory of Armenia, as well as to address the humanitarian problems caused by the 44-day war, including the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians illegally held in Azerbaijan.

RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan noted that Azerbaijan grossly violates its international obligations with similar actions aimed at causing a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh and shows that without an international mechanism, real dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku is not possible. He emphasized that such actions of Azerbaijan undermine the efforts of the Armenian side to establish stability and peace in the region.
