The newly appointed Ambassador of Nicaragua to Armenia, Alba Asusena Torres Mejia, presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturian.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her fruitful work and success during his diplomatic service.
"I hope that the appointment of the Nicaraguan ambassador to Armenia will contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries," the president said.
The newly appointed ambassador thanked for the reception and conveyed the greetings of the President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, addressed to the President of the Republic.
During the meeting, possible directions of cooperation between Armenia and Nicaragua in education, culture, and economy were discussed. The President emphasized the activation of interdepartmental and interparliamentary contacts.
The President of the Republic presented to the ambassador the regional realities and Armenia's approaches in relations with its neighbors. President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia is committed to achieving peace with Azerbaijan.
Emphasizing the cooperation between the two countries at the UN and international platforms, the ambassador noted that Nicaragua unconditionally favors peace and will make efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus within its capabilities.
During the meeting, ideas were also exchanged regarding signing a memorandum of understanding and mutual high-level visits between Armenia and Nicaragua.
