RA Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan received US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Senior Advisor on Caucasus Negotiations Philip Ricker, and his delegation.
Ambassador Riker was interested in the activities carried out by the Defender's institution, in response to which Kristinne Grigoryan presented the institution's mandate and guarantees of independence and structure, including highlighting the role of regional units. The defender emphasized that the UN accredits the institution as an independent institution of A status.
The defender presented the problems of people living in border communities, the most vulnerable groups, families of prisoners of war, and missing persons. In response to the ambassador's question, Grigoryan detailed the works performed by the institution to solve the problems of national minorities living in Armenia.
Presented recent HRD emergency reports on the targeting of civilians and recorded war crimes. A separate reference was made to the facts and conclusions of the certain non-public information of the HRD, prepared based on the interviews of prisoners of war captured by Azerbaijan and then repatriated during September 13-14.
Ricker highly appreciated the work done by the Human Rights Defender and thanked him. Both sides emphasized using the potential of independent institutions in finding solutions to humanitarian issues.
