RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan is on a three-day working visit to Qatar at the invitation of Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim, Chairman of the Majlis al-Shura of the State of Qatar. Within the framework of the visit, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly had a meeting with the Vice President of the Majlis al-Shura, Hamda bint Hasan bin Abdalrahman Al-Suite. Parliamentarians from other Arab countries and the chairman of the Arab Mehrab Advisory Council, Dr. Said Mokadem, attended the meeting.

Possible directions for cooperation with Qatar in a parliamentary format were discussed at the meeting. The development of relations between the legislative bodies was recorded on both sides, which further strengthened the bilateral interstate ties to benefit the welfare of friendly peoples. "I am sure that the Armenian-Qatar cooperation has a great potential for development and expansion, and I, as the chairman of the RA National Assembly, am ready to support the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Qatar for the benefit of our friendly peoples," said the RA NA Speaker in particular.

RA NA Speaker emphasized the importance of the opening of the RA embassy in Qatar in the development and strengthening of bilateral relations, adding that the establishment of the Qatari embassy in Yerevan will have the same role.

At the end of the meeting, there was also a short reference to the football world cup championship currently underway in Qatar. The participants of the meeting conveyed words of thanks to the chairman of Majlis al-Shura, Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim, for the invitation to the championship.
