According to Babken Tunyan, MP of the "Civil Contract" faction, and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, since July 1, 2022, tourists visiting and leaving our country sometimes have difficulties meeting the mandatory requirement to make cashless payments when purchasing goods exceeding 300,000 drams in duty-free shops.
With the amendment to the Law on "Non-Cash Transactions," the Member of the National Assembly proposes not to extend the operation of the law to the trade of goods carried out under the "Duty-Free Trade" procedure, enabling tourists visiting RA to make cash payments without restrictions.
It was also noted that the project has an improving significance.
According to Babken Tunyan, the draft law was discussed with the Government's partners, but some issues need to be adjusted, which is why it was proposed to postpone the bill's discussion for up to two months.
The legislative initiative was presented at the regular session of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Issues of the National Assembly on November 28.
