The President of Azerbaijan is trying to create grounds for closing the Lachin Corridor (VIDEO)

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Azerbaijan of creating grounds for closing the Lachin Corridor.

According to Pashinyan, "the President of Azerbaijan is trying to create grounds for closing the Lachin Corridor, encircling the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians and subjecting them to genocide and repatriation under the pretext of Armenia not fulfilling its obligations." The RA Prime Minister noted that the regulations of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, do not leave room for such parallels, and several facts justify this. "In points 3 and 6 of the tripartite declaration about Lachin Corridor, it is written "Lachin Corridor,"  Lachin Corridor directly named as such.

In point 9 of the same statement, there is no mention of a corridor, no territory of the Republic of Armenia, and no place name. According to point 6 of the tripartite declaration, the Lachin Corridor is not only a road or a transport route but also a 5-kilometer wide area, a security zone. Clause 9 does not mention any such site and speaks only of communication."

Nikol Pashinyan also mentioned that point 9 of the tripartite statement states that the border guard service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation carries out control over transport communication between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan. "This matter is additionally clarified by the decree No. 695 of the President of the Russian Federation of November 10, 2020, "On ensuring peace in Nagorno-Karabakh," which states, "The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation to carry out surveillance by the Republic of Armenia in the western regions of Azerbaijan and Regarding the provision of transportation connections between the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan for the unhindered two-way movement of citizens, goods, and vehicles."

In other words, there is no question of control over any of our sovereign territory and alienation of any of our sovereign functions, and there cannot be; it is about control over the implementation of agreements, and only this can be done by the FSB border guard service of the Russian Federation," he stressed.

Pashinyan also added that the accusations against Armenia of violating point 9 of the statement of November 9 are baseless. "Armenia has only one obligation: to ensure the transport connection between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan, and the statement of November 9 does not mention any specific route."
