Sweden is a democratic country, followed by Armenia as an example. The activities of the Armenia-Sweden and Sweden-Armenia friendship groups are exceptional. In particular, there were two statements condemning the Azerbaijani aggression of September 13, 2022, by friendly groups, said Hripsime Grigoryan, the head of the Armenia-Sweden friendship group, at a meeting held on November 7 with Patrick Svensson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Armenia, and Arin Karapet, an Armenian member of the Swedish Parliament. During the meeting:
Hripsime Grigoryan congratulated the ambassador and Arin Karapet on the occasion of the democratic elections held in Sweden and the formation of the new government.
She highlighted the development of Armenian-Swedish inter-parliamentary relations. The head of the friendship group emphasized the need to organize bilateral high-level mutual visits.
Patrick Svensson noted that the cooperation between the two countries had made progress. He expressed hope that the newly formed government of Sweden will continue its partnership by implementing several programs. The ambassador highly appreciated the democratic reforms implemented in Armenia.
Arin Karapet thanked her for the congratulations. The Armenian deputy is ready to support strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation to implement joint projects.
Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the RA NA "Civil Contract" faction, emphasized the cooperation of two democratic states, Armenia and Sweden. Noting that democracy is a security component for Armenia, the faction secretary stressed that the establishment and recovery of democratic institutions in Armenia are critical. In his opinion, the parliaments can cooperate more flexibly and directly with each other, solving many issues.
Zemfira Mirzoeva, deputy of the Armenia faction of the RA NA, presented information on the situation in Armenia and Artsakh. The deputy considered the Azerbaijani aggression towards the sovereign territory of RA unacceptable and emphasized the international response in this matter. Zemfira Mirzoeva noted that she represents the Assyrian community in the Armenian parliament.
Arsen Torosyan, a member of the Armenia-Sweden friendship group, emphasized the EU's role in ensuring security and establishing peace in the region.
The perspectives of Armenian-Swedish cooperation in several fields were discussed.
