Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Hossein Amir Abdollahian jointly announced the opening of the Islamic Republic of Iran's consulate in Kapan.
RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that this is an important day in the history of Armenian-Iranian long-standing and neighborly relations. "Establishment and effective operation of the Consulate General of Iran will give a new quality to the unique concerns of the two countries, promote bilateral cooperation and contribute to the development of Armenian-Iranian relations.
It is noteworthy that this critical event takes place in the 30th year of establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Iran.
Our path over the past 30 years has been marked by our sincere desire to develop strategic relationships in the spirit of brotherhood and close partnership."
According to the minister, from now on, necessary efforts will be made to deepen further and strengthen future mutually beneficial cooperation. "I want to assure you that the decision of the Iranian authorities to open a consulate general in the Syunik region, which is the backbone of our country, is deeply understood and appreciated in Armenia."
After the solemn ceremony, the two countries foreign ministers had a private conversation at the consulate.
