In November, the French Senate will discuss the new resolution on imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan

In response to the letters of Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs of the RA NA, on September 14 and October 3, the head of the French delegation to the NATO PA, the President of the Standing Assembly of Europe, International and Defense Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of France, Anne Genette, spoke. With a statement in defense of the Republic of Armenia's territorial integrity and the Armenian people's security.

"On behalf of the French delegation at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, we would like to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Armenia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security.

Our thoughts are with the many victims and their families due to the recent clashes. France is entirely in solidarity with the Armenian people.

The President of the Republic publicly reminded of the determination of France to ensure the continuation of dialogue and negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan to establish a stable peace in the region. Our country, together with its partners, primarily supports the release of all Armenian prisoners who are still in custody, returning to the observance of the ceasefire regime of November 9, 2020, and maintaining forces in their original positions.

The Security Council held two sessions under the presidency of France on September 15 and 16. At the invitation of the President of the Republic and the President of the European Council, a meeting between your Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan took place within the framework of the summit of the European political community.

Like France, Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and, in 1991, to the Declaration of Alma-Ata. The border commissions are due to meet soon in Brussels. We hope that the EU civilian mission will be able to help build trust and thereby facilitate their work. The direction of the OSCE fact-finding mission will also contribute to this.

Be assured that we will continue to support all efforts to end hostilities, ensuring the sustainable maintenance of the ceasefire regime and the peaceful settlement of all outstanding issues.

In 2020, both our chambers adopted a resolution: one in the National Assembly on the protection of the Armenian people and Christian communities in Europe and the East, and the other in the Senate on the recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

Next month, the Senate will consider a new resolution to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan and demand that it immediately leave the territory of Armenia, ensure the observance of the cease-fire agreement of November 9, 2020, and advance any initiative to establish lasting peace between the two countries," the text of the statement said.
