The interlocutor of Radar Armenia is Norayr Norikyan, the chairman of the "Ardara Armenia" party.
- RA Minister of Defense is in India on a working visit. What expectations can be had from this visit if we consider that recently there were publications about purchasing 260 million dollars worth of arms from India?
- In the context of those publications, I value that visit. I find that after the last war, Armenia should have the opportunity to diversify its ammunition acquisition behavior and be able to acquire military equipment that ensures Armenia's combat capability by all possible means and from all countries. Therefore, if this visit is due to the solution to that problem, I am cheerful, and the result is also significant.
- In your opinion, how will Russia react to the purchase of arms from India?
- The problem is as follows. Today, Armenia is in the process of protecting its territorial integrity and security. I do not think that Armenia should have any constraints, including the position of a country with a formal partner or alliance relations, because the issue concerns the territorial integrity of Armenia, security, and neutralization of military challenges. Against the background of recent statements that we have paid money to one of our allied countries, and until now, this weapon has not been supplied, a comprehensive policy of clarifying or uploading relations with the Russian Federation should be adopted to understand the rules of the game we are playing with each other.
- Between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in 1997. The friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance agreement signed on August 29 will expire in one year. Is there a possibility that the contract will not be renewed?
- I consider such a scenario unlikely, but it is another matter for Armenia to conduct a serious study. I also urged the entire political elite to study it because many clauses in that agreement made it possible to use the resources of the 102nd military base in Armenia in case of any military attack against Armenia. What else should be done against Armenia? Why do we need a bomb to explode in the center of Yerevan to understand that Armenia is being subjected to a military attack by Azerbaijan? Therefore, the treaty's provisions were sufficient to ensure the protection of Armenia. It was even necessary to forget about CSTO. During the possible negotiations regarding the extension of that agreement, the Armenian side is obliged to raise these issues to crystallize the provisions of that agreement, to know and record the reasons for sometimes not acting, and to understand the general philosophy related to the deal. We will live; we will see what developments will happen.
