The move of the Russian ambassador is a manifestation of the attitude towards official Yerevan

On October 13, leader of the Reformist Party Vahan Babayan, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia Yerjanik Ghazaryan, former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vahram Mkrtchyan, Chairman of the SIM Party Hayk Babukhanyan, Head of the "National Unity" Party Artashes Geghamyan, military expert Hayk Nahapetyan, RPA member Eduard Sharmazanov, ex-ambassador to Kazakhstan Ara Sahakyan, deputy of the National Assembly "Hayastan" faction Aram Vardevanyan and others.

Radar Armenia contacted Artashes Geghamyan to find out details about the meeting. Still, the latter refused to give details of the meeting, stating that he would only talk about it live. Military expert Hayk Nahapetyan said he could not provide details of the meeting with the ambassador. We also tried contacting the other meeting participants, but they did not answer our phone calls.

Political scientist Ruben Mehrabyan, commenting on what happened, stated that he did not see any problem and emphasized that the Russian ambassador, like any other ambassador, has the right to meet with the representative or head of any legally operating organization.

"Taking into account the current Armenian-Russian relations and the internal political context of Armenia, that step of the Russian ambassador is a direct manifestation of attitude towards the official policy of Yerevan," said Mehrabyan, stressing that "this should be treated calmly, acknowledged and continued to implement the agenda that was adopted in defense of our territorial integrity, sovereignty, peace agenda, which Russia does not recognize and puts under suspicion and threat."

The political scientist said that the oppositionists met with the Russian ambassador to RA. "So-called opposition groups are proxies of Russian influence, and calling them opposition is a political science mistake."
