On October 12, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan participated in the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of the meeting, the heads of the foreign political departments of the CIS member states referred to urgent regional and international issues of common interest. They discussed issues related to cooperation in the political, commercial, cultural, and humanitarian spheres within the CIS.
In his speech during the session, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated the Kazakh side on successfully implementing their priorities for the CIS presidency and wished the Kyrgyz side practical work during the upcoming presidency.
The head of the RA foreign political department noted that during the last three decades, the Republic of Armenia advocated for the expansion and strengthening of cooperation mechanisms within the Commonwealth of Independent States framework by the goals and principles stipulated in the founding documents of the CIS.
Referring to the recent aggression of the Azerbaijani side, the shelling of the civilian population and infrastructures against the sovereign territory of RA, and the continuous bellicose and fanatical statements, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that similar actions undermine the efforts to establish lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. He also stressed the precise and targeted condemnation of Azerbaijan's large-scale armed aggression by international partners.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia noted the importance of the works carried out within the framework of the border demarcation and border security commission and the unblocking of all economic and transport connections in the region.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented to his colleagues the position of the Armenian side regarding Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, and the establishment of lasting peace and security in the South Caucasus region.
As a result of the MFA meeting, several documents were adopted.
