The attitude towards the city is what goals we set for ourselves. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan said this on 24News.am, stressing that if we want the city to be comfortable for cars, that is one goal; if it is comfortable, for example, for builders, that is another goal, but if we want it. To be comfortable for the citizens of Yerevan, every municipality official should strive for that goal.
"Yerevan should be a city for people because many problems that are solved here are not solved for people," Avinyan said.
According to him, the city is a living organism, and the problems also increase along with development. "The most important is the safety issues; we are talking about the 4th class emergency buildings. You understand that stones are falling inside people's houses, and the danger is such that the building may collapse. One of the most discussed problems is related to transport. The change related to the tariff is a part of the systemic solution," Avinyan said.
The former Deputy Prime Minister of RA did not avoid the question about the country's situation, noting that during this time, we need to strengthen ourselves, straighten our backs, and build the right negotiating position to solve the problems peacefully. "An important precondition for achieving long-term peace is the development program of our army; there is no alternative."
According to Avinyan, the solution to each problem requires knowledge, which is not yet available in the bodies that have been implementing management processes for years. "It is essential here that we gradually start to innovate. Having internal information, I can say that we are taking these steps."
We can; we have the resources to have a powerful army, Avinyan emphasized. "The most dangerous thing in this world is the wrong assessment of the situation. By correctly assessing the situation, we can find the right solutions."
What will Armenia look like in 5 years? According to Avinyan, it will be a developing state with a rapidly growing population, developing economy, and army, and Yerevan, in turn, will be a more modern, people-centered city.
"I never dreamed of being in power; whether or not I will be in the office at that time is not important. The most important thing you can do, being in any position, is to appreciate the time given to you and do your best because what you did or didn't do will remain after you," said Avinyan.
