In response to Radar Armenia's inquiry, the US Embassy in Armenia said, "We are apprehensive about the latest publications about executing unarmed Armenian prisoners by Azerbaijani servicemen, and we demand a comprehensive and impartial investigation. The perpetrators of the atrocity must be brought to justice."
We tried to get information from the embassy whether the US government, within the framework of its commitment to the peaceful settlement of problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan, is working towards the return of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan during the 44-day war and whether the US government is considering imposing sanctions on Azerbaijan, considering having videos of cases of torture against Armenian prisoners. We also asked whether these are war crimes and what kind of objective response they should receive from the international community.
The embassy's response stated that the immediate and unreserved return of those captured last month and other times is an essential step in achieving lasting peace.
On October 4, Azerbaijan returned 17 Armenian prisoners of war to the Armenian side with the mediation of the USA.
