Iran is against the change of geopolitical and international borders in the region

According to Mehr agency, the delegation led by the head of the Armenia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, Gevorg Papoyan, met with Ibrahim Azizi, the vice-chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Mejlis.

Aziz, pointing out the deep ties between the two countries and peoples, noted that they create a basis for further deepening relations.

Speaking about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Aziz said.

"Military clashes in this region worry us. We call on the parties to exercise restraint. Using force is not a way to resolve disputes; the area needs dialogue. The region's countries should solve its problems, and the part should not be opened to external forces under the pretext of solving them. The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Mejlis has clearly stated that it is against the change of geopolitical and international borders in the region and supports the preservation of the territorial integrity of the countries."

Popayan, in turn, thanked the Iranian side for its position and emphasized that no matter how hard the foreign forces try, they cannot harm Armenian-Iranian relations.
