"The review of allies and friends is an inevitable necessity." Anahit Adamyan

Radar Armenia's interlocutor is Anahit Adamyan, a member of the political council of the "Republic" party.

- US Secretary of State Blinken referred to the peace agreement in phone conversations with Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev and noted that it is the only long-term path to peace. How would you interpret the recent American involvement? How effective can it be?

- This call of the US Secretary of State follows the Prague meetings, and, in addition to referring to the peace agreement, Anthony Blinken, according to the Armenian side, emphasized the need to withdraw the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia and maintain the ceasefire regime, which is a vital issue for us. Equally important are protecting the security and rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, creating an international mechanism for discussions between Stepanakert and Baku, and returning Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan were also discussed in the telephone conversation.

It is even more critical that the US Secretary of State emphasized the importance of discussions on the rights and guarantees of the people of Karabakh in the conversation with the President of Azerbaijan. In other words, no matter how much Ilham Aliyev declares that he will not discuss the Artsakh issue with any country, these discussions are inevitable. Anthony Blinken expressed the willingness of the US to contribute to the negotiation process and peace and stability in the South Caucasus shortly. Welcoming the return of 17 prisoners of war from Azerbaijan to Armenia on October 4, he called on Aliyev to continue tangible steps to support the peace process. Armenia managed to take the discussion of vital issues out of the Russia-Turkey-Azerbaijan Bermuda triangle and to the international platform, where it has supporters. This was a success because, having overlapping interests, the Russia-Turkey-Azerbaijan triumvirate acted as a united tandem against Armenia, which remained alone. The support of the USA and the West, France, the EU, the European Parliament, and PACE to Armenia is apparent. As a democratic country, RA has become a natural ally of the West and has every right to demand from the West that the aggression of dictatorial Azerbaijan against its internationally recognized territory and war crimes be adequately assessed. The imposition of sanctions against Azerbaijan is a guarantee of preventing further aggressions. Whether we will be able to achieve the imposition of sanctions depends not only on the West but also on our steps, which are delayed. The war of 2020 and the course of events prove that Armenia's strategic partner is the strategic partner of Armenia's enemy, and its interests overlap with theirs; the Turkey-Azerbaijan tandem; therefore, the review of allies and friends is an inevitable necessity. The involvement of the USA and the West in solving the vital issues of RA and NKR is positive. It creates an opportunity to strengthen national sovereignty and protect vital interests.

- After the end of the four-way meeting in Prague, a statement was issued, which talked about the mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but did not talk about the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia. How will you interpret it?

- The quadrilateral meeting in Prague is only one link in the general process. Although it is logically expected that the recognition of territorial integrity itself means the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia, we are dealing with an aggressor and terrorist state whose foreign policy arsenal has often used the trick of reneging on its promises and agreements. And so this process should be continued and reinforced with other discussions and coercive measures and sanctions until Baku starts fulfilling its obligations. It is no coincidence that the US Secretary of State also addressed this issue in a telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev. It is no coincidence that several pro-Armenian resolutions are circulating in the US Congress, including the demand to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan. It is essential not to leave the application of Resolution 907 to the president's discretion.

- At this moment, the role of the moderator of the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations has been assumed by the West. Russia continues to keep silent. Are there dangers and risks from Russia's silence?

- I don't think that the Russian Federation is keeping silent; it is challenging to consider the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the deployment of the CSTO observation mission on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is being discussed or the periodic reports of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in the briefings that the West wants To take the initiative away from Moscow, that they work silently. At the same time, the West makes noise and disturbs. It is evident that in the region, Russia itself has refused to fulfill its contractual obligations, both under the RA-Russian Agreement and as a CSTO member. Still, it is trying to preserve its rights. RA's problem is to protect its sovereignty and national security by combining the capabilities of diplomacy and the army, preventing and neutralizing dangers and risks. To come from the earth.
