Human rights defender Kristinne Grigoryan and French Ambassador to Armenia S.E. Anne Luyo visited the Syunik region on October 5.
They met with Syunik region governor Robert Ghukasyan, Goris community mayor Arush Arushanyan, and other region governorate representatives and municipality representatives.
The damage caused to the region's population as a result of the attack of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the period between September 13-15 was discussed at the meeting.
The governor thanked Defender Kristine Grigoryan and Ambassador Anne Luyo for the visit and the work done, then presented the general situation in the region, security issues, and residents' problems.
Together they toured the settlements affected by the Azerbaijani aggression and visited Verishen, Karashen, Vaghatur, Aghitu, and Noravan settlements; they also met a wounded civilian in Verishen.
Defender Grigoryan also thanked the governor and the head of the Goris community for their practical cooperation with the HRD teams during this period and once again emphasized that it is essential to visit the affected districts, meet with the residents and record the numerous and continuous violations of human rights on the spot.
Ambassador Anne Luyo expressed her gratitude to the HRD for the large-scale and vital work done and discussed cooperation programs with the governor. The ambassador emphasized this opportunity to communicate with the people affected by the attack and to visit the communities and expressed his willingness to support the works aimed at developing Syunik.
