Minister Narek Mkrtchyan received the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Armenia, Lila Pieters Yahia

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan received UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Lila Pieters Yahia.

During the meeting, several issues related to continuous labor and social protection cooperation, the results of jointly implemented programs, and the course of existing measures were discussed.

Emphasizing the importance of practical cooperation, Minister Mkrtchyan highly appreciated the contribution of UN structures to support the critical reforms implemented in Armenia.

During the meeting, the parties referred to the works aimed at overcoming the social problems caused by the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and providing support to the temporarily displaced citizens. In this context, the minister emphasized implementing effective programs for rapid response to crises, emphasizing the role of diligent work with international partners. Lila Pieters Yahia noted that she met with temporarily displaced citizens during her visit to Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik regions and got informed about their problems.

Referring to the reforms carried out by the MLSA, Minister Narek Mkrtchyan presented the works aimed at the introduction of a new system for assessing the functionality of a person, the revision of the insecurity assessment system, the introduction of an extra-judicial system for the resolution of labor disputes and in this context emphasized the study of international experience and the possibility of its application in Armenia. The minister also underlined the importance of developing women's empowerment programs, sectoral, including employment, and demographic strategies.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue implementing the necessary steps to expand cooperation.
