In response to the "News" inquiry, the US Embassy in Armenia said: "We are deeply concerned about the recent reports of the execution of unarmed Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijani soldiers.

We call for a complete and impartial investigation. Those guilty of any atrocity must be brought to justice."

In response to the question, "Azerbaijan still does not fulfill its obligations to return dozens of Armenian prisoners of war, what is your position on this issue?" the US Embassy stated. "The immediate and unconditional return of those captured during last month's offensive, as well as all other detainees, is an important step towards achieving lasting peace."
