Arman Musinyan, the RA First President's spokesman, presented Levon Ter-Petrosyan's reaction.
"First. Yesterday's statement from the office of the 3rd RA President Serzh Sargsyan stated, "As for Levon Ter-Petrosyan's judgments regarding the Zurich Protocols and the possible Armenian-Turkish peace treaty, they are unacceptable, and the comparison of these processes is inappropriate." Such a claim has nothing to do with what Ter-Petrosyan said because he did not make any judgment about the Zurich Protocols. He said, "It is clear that similar projects are being prepared on both sides and on the platform of diplomatic contacts aimed at reconciling Armenian-Turkish relations. In this case, certainly, no big surprises are expected. The Armenian-Turkish reconciliation agreement will not differ much between Davutoglu and Nalbandian in 2009. from the Zurich Protocols signed on October 10". Ter-Petrosyan's judgments regarding the Zurich protocols are expressed in the 2009 resolution of the Armenian National Congress in a September 2 announcement. The Congress positively evaluated the Zurich Protocols, categorically opposing only one clause, which refers to creating a joint commission of Armenian and Turkish historians.
Second. From yesterday's reaction of the First President, many concluded that he aborted the possibility of dialogue between the government and the opposition. They did not understand that the process was already aborted due to Robert Kocharyan's almost 3-hour long press conference and Nikol Pashinyan's two-hour interview the next day. Their result is as follows. Kocharyan's goal is to overthrow Pashinyan's power at any cost, and Pashinyan's goal is to preserve his power at any cost. With this, they unanimously declared that the bridges to reach a dialogue have been burned."
