"The opening of the Consulate General of Iran is an important and symbolic step." Ararat Mirzoyan

On September 30, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the newly appointed Consul General of Iran in Kapan, Morteza Abedin Varamin, who visited the RA MFA accompanied by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri.

IRI Consul General in Kapan handed over the consular license to Ararat Mirzoyan. Then, RA Foreign Minister Morteza Abedin handed over the exequatur to Varamin. The parties expressed their high level of satisfaction regarding the activation of Armenian-Iranian contacts, especially in the recent period.

Ararat Mirzoyan noted that opening the Consulate General of Iran is an important and symbolic step, which testifies to the bilateral readiness to deepen the cooperation between Armenia and Iran further and bring it to a new qualitative level. With its activities, there is a conviction that the general consulate will contribute to the most effective realization of the potential in the trade-economic, transport, energy, scientific-educational and cultural fields of the Syunik region.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of regional stability and security. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian side highly values ​​the strong and clear positions expressed by the Iranian side on regional matters.
