On September 23, in New York, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with the UN Secretary-General for Political and Peacekeeping Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented the situation created due to the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of RA. Minister Mirzoyan considered the numerous violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces unacceptable, stressing that they should be assessed accordingly.
The head of the RA foreign political department emphasized the need for direct and clear condemnation of the aggressor by the international community, noting that indirect responses prepare fertile ground for new Azerbaijani aggressions. From that point of view, the Armenian side emphasized the target evaluations made during the urgent session of the UN Security Council.
Thoughts were exchanged on possible mechanisms for increasing the involvement of the United Nations to establish stability in the South Caucasus.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Rosemary DiCarlo also discussed issues related to the plan of Armenia-UN cooperation and democratic reforms in Armenia.
