The Republic of Armenia is 31 years old

September 21 is the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.

Thirty-one years ago, on this very day in 1991, a referendum was organized in which more than 95 percent of the population of Armenia participated.

More than 99 percent of the referendum participants said "Yes" to independence and answered "Yes" to the question "Do you agree that Armenia should be an independent, democratic state outside the USSR?" 2 days later, the Supreme Council of Armenia, based on the results of the referendum, declared the Republic of Armenia an independent state.
