HRD met with the US ambassador

On September 20, Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan received the United States Ambassador to Armenia Lynn M. Tracy and embassy representatives.
Ambassador Tracey thanked Defender Grigoryan and the Defender's staff for the large-scale and practical work these days.
Kristine Grigoryan informed the ambassador about the damage caused to the civilian population and civil infrastructure due to the Azerbaijani attack on Armenia and other acts prohibited by international humanitarian law.
The defender also referred to the crimes committed by Azerbaijani servicemen against Armenian prisoners of war and dead service members, their reasons, and the system of Armenian hatred conducted by the Azerbaijani state. Grigoryan also handed the ambassador the printed version of the HRD emergency report of September 16, in which the facts of gross human rights violations recorded during and as a result of the Azerbaijani attack were analyzed.
The US ambassador particularly emphasized that in the first days of the attack, the Defender's institution provided information to its partners and made due efforts to verify the collected data.
Kristine Grigoryan also presented the results of the visits made on September 17 to the communities affected by the attack in the Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik regions by the HRD fact-finding teams.
In addition, the Defender noted that it is essential for our international partners to familiarize themselves with the situation on the spot, talk with people and get an idea of ​​the human and psychological consequences of the Azerbaijani armed attack.
At the end of the meeting, the Defender expressed her gratitude to the ambassador for the constant effective communication and high level of cooperation.
