Gegharkunik Region Governor Karen Sargsyan today received Nino Sabashvili, the economic security delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Sargis Martikian, the regional representative of financial security, Makuch Mnatsakanyan, the president of the Gegharkunik region of the Red Cross, and Aharon Khachatryan, the head of the Vardenis community.

"On September 20, together with Vardenis community leader Aharon Khachatryan, I received Nino Sabashvili, economic security delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Sargis Martikyan, regional representative of financial security, Makuch Mnatsakanyan, chairman of Gegharkunik region of the Red Cross.
The purpose of the visit of the representatives of the Red Cross was to get acquainted with the situation in several affected settlements of the Vardenis community of the Gegharkunik region as a result of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 13, 2022, to provide support to the affected population or economies shortly.
I presented the situation as a result of military operations in Sotk, Kut, Norabak, Azat, Verin Shorzha, Nerkin Shorzha, Airk, Azat, Tretuk, Jaghatsadzor, Kotakan settlements of the Vardenis community.
In particular, reference was made to the evaluation of the needs of the residents evacuated from the mentioned settlements, the works being carried out in the direction of providing them with temporary housing, food, and other necessary items, and the jobs being carried out by the regional commission in the order of the adjustment of the damages of shelled apartments, their repair or construction.
They also talked about the violation of the educational rights of schoolchildren in the mentioned settlements as a result of military operations and the implementation of socio-psychological and other support programs implemented by the RA government among the evacuated population.
Nino Sabashvili, the delegate of economic security of the International Committee of the Red Cross, presented a series of developed plans, which are planned to be implemented in the settlements of the Vardenis community as a result of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan after collecting the necessary information about the situation and assessing the situation.
During the meeting, we also talked about the support the Armenian Red Cross provided to the residents affected by the large-scale aggression and evacuated," says the governor's note.
