The CSTO Secretariat made a statement regarding the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"On September 13, 2022, combat clashes took place on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan using heavy weapons and ATS.
We consider the use of force unacceptable. Only political-diplomatic methods and agreements should be used to settle disputes, which are fixed in the statements of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26, 2021.
We highly appreciate the mediation efforts of the Russian Federation in maintaining the ceasefire on the line of contact on September 13, starting at 9:00.
In connection with the application of the Armenian side to the CSTO Collective Security Council regarding assisting Armenia, the organization's secretariat, together with the Joint Headquarters, organized the works of launching the CSTO mechanisms for the regulation of the situation.
We express our deepest condolences to the victims' families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured."
