The parliamentary opposition still does not specify whether they will return to the parliament or not. Radar Armenia inquired from Artur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction, if the opposition continues not to participate in the work of the parliament, will the government start the process of depriving it of mandates or not?
According to Hovhannisyan, during the previous session of the National Assembly, they stated in their justifications why opposition figures were deprived of the positions of the vice-president of the National Assembly and the chairman of the standing committee on economic issues because they were not working and disturbed the everyday work of the National Assembly. "We announced that the issue of depriving of mandates is not closed for us, but at this moment, in this session, we will not address that issue. I want to record this: we are not depriving anyone of their mandate. We apply to the CC on specific grounds, and the Constitutional Court decides whether specific deputies will be deprived of their mandates by these grounds or not," explained Hovhannisyan.
He considered it pointless to talk about the process of depriving of mandates at this time, stressing that the autumn session of the National Assembly has just started, and the calculation of absences "will be counted from zero." "If we have the same image as in the previous session, I do not rule out that this issue will be discussed again in the faction, and, accordingly, an appropriate decision will be made."
