The Deputy Prime Minister familiarized himself with the construction works of the North-South corridor's Lanjik-Gyumri road section.

Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan was in Shirak State on August 31.

Before reaching the region, the first stop of the Deputy Prime Minister was the construction site of the construction of the Talin-Lanjik 18.7 km section of the "North-South Road Corridor Investment Project," where the Deputy Minister of Territorial Management and Infrastructures Kristine Ghalechyan met with Gor Avetisyan, Executive Director of the "Road Department" Foundation and the contractor company. Together with the engineer and the builder, they presented the ongoing works, emphasizing that the asphalting works of the Talin - Lanjik section will be completed in September 2022, and the furnishing and marking works will be completed in November 2022.

Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan was welcomed by Nazeli Baghdasaryan, head of Shirak state, on the Lanjik-Gyumri road section of the North-South road corridor. The Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor toured the area and discussed with the construction officials several issues related to the progress and quality of the works. According to the preliminary calculation, the construction works of this road section, with a length of about 27.5 km, will be completed in December 2023.

The next place of the visit was the 4.9 km long Horom - Artik - Alagyaz road section of republican importance, which is being repaired with the help of the state budget. The demolition of the existing roof, the installation of the road surface, the construction of sidewalks, the drainage of the carriageway, and the re-installation of the existing pipes are being carried out. The general works are scheduled to be completed in November of this year. Head of Artik community Ananik Voskanyan presented his concerns regarding the parallel repair of the drainage system. To find ways to solve the issue, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan gave several recommendations.
Next, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the construction site of Azatan School No. 2. The Territorial Development Fund of Armenia carries out the works within the framework of the "Improvement of Seismic Safety" project. The total cost of the project is 1 billion 585 million AMD. The school is designed for 380 students. The secondary school of the Azatan community consists of 2 buildings located in different areas, the first of which was built in 2000, is in good condition, and the 2nd building is in poor condition.
Within the framework of the project, it was decided to preserve the 1st building and build new buildings next to it, having one complete school complex. Artur Soghomyan, the foundation's executive director, informed us that the construction started on January 12, 2022, and will last for two years.

During the regional visit, the deputy prime minister and governor also visited the "Pantheon of Freedom Fighters," paid tribute to the memory of Armenians who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, and laid flowers on the graves of immortal heroes.

In Shirak settlement of Akhuryan community of Shirak marz, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan got acquainted with the construction works of the kindergarten building. It should be noted that as a result of the cooperation between the Government and the community, under the subsidy program, in 2021, the construction of a kindergarten building with two classrooms for 46 children of Shirak settlement of Akhuryan community was started. The cost of the project is 74 million 122 thousand drams.

Active construction is also being carried out in the "Friendship" park of Gyumri city. An irrigation and drinking water network will be built, sewage lines will be overhauled, a drainage system will be made, the electricity system will be improved, the lighting network will be overhauled, and ramps will be built at the entrances to the park in the 7.2 ha area of ​​the Friendship Park, which the Regional Development Fund of Armenia will improve. Etc. Based on a pre-signed agreement, the Gyumri community will hand over the built-up area to the Tourism and Urban Development Charitable Fund (TUF) for operation and maintenance. In parallel with the works mentioned above, TUF carries out architectural design, procurement of carousels and equipment for the entertainment sector of the park, study of international experience, and other professional research.

The last stop of the Deputy Prime Minister was at the construction site of the new sports complex "Arthur Aleksanyan Greco-Roman Wrestling Children's School." The construction of the sports complex started in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2025. The Chairman of the Urban Planning Committee, Armen Ghularyan, informed that the particular sports complex would have all the conditions for the development of children's and youth sports: big competition and training halls for wrestling, weightlifting, and gymnastics classes, stadiums, including a football field, a running track, a swimming pool, a hotel area, where the hosted athletes will be accommodated, an entertainment hall and other necessary infrastructure.

During the visit, to solve the problems raised by the leaders of the enlarged Artik and Akhuryan communities, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan visited the Territorial Development Fund.
