The Minsk Group does not have an exclusive role in the continuation of the negotiation process.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has appointed a new senior advisor for the Caucasus negotiations, Ambassador Philip Ricker, who was also appointed OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair. The United States reaffirmed its commitment to support Armenia and Azerbaijan in reaching a political agreement on long-term peace.

In a conversation with Radar Armenia, political scientist Beniamin Poghosyan expressed his opinion that after this appointment, the OSCE Minsk Group can at least partially regain its importance in Russia-US relations only in case of some agreements. However, according to him, this probability is almost zero in the next two years.

Touching on the expectations of the Armenian side, especially regarding the negotiation process of the Artsakh issue, Poghosyan said that intensive Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations are underway on two platforms, the EU and Russia, at the highest level, without the Minsk Group. "It proves that the Minsk Group does not have an exclusive or monopoly role for the continuation of the negotiation process."
