Today is the 32nd anniversary of adopting the Declaration of Independence of Armenia.
On August 23, 1990, the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR adopted the 12-point Declaration of Independence, and thus the process of Armenia's independence began.
It was a fundamental legal document on the way to independence, outlining political, economic, and cultural development methods.
With the declaration of independence, the Soviet Socialist Republic of Armenia was renamed the Republic of Armenia; our country had all the symbols of the state: flag, anthem, and coat of arms.
Until we had a Constitution, the Declaration of Independence also served as a constitutional law adopted, according to which any law was valid in Armenia if it did not contradict the provisions of the declaration.
