This week, the busy public life of Armenia was rocked by the incident related to Konstantin Zatulin. The RA National Assembly announced that he is an unwanted person in Armenia.
Zatulin is not a random person in the framework of Armenian-Russian relations. He is the founder of the "Lazarian Club," a deputy of the Russian State Duma, and the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. Who does not know the "Lazarian Club" is a symbol of Russian soft power in Armenia, one of the headquarters of Russian influence; in other words, it is "Robert Kocharyan and Friends of Russia CJSC," which openly and with particular pleasure announce that Armenia is the war of 2020? Armenia is to blame for leaving and selling Artsakh, that the RA authorities are "Soros agents," and so on. And now, in the background of the recent escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the ally Russia refuses to fix the boundaries of Armenia. It accuses Armenia of not delimiting and demarcating and not opening the communicants with Meghri; Zatulin continues to sing that song. But that's nothing, let's face it, that's his job too - on the one hand, to talk about holy Artsakh, caressing the ears of naive Armenians with populism; on the other hand, to serve the Russian-Azerbaijani agenda, accusing Armenia of inciting the 44-day war and the loss of Artsakh, unintentionally ignoring the ally role of Russia, obligations at least in the matter of RA security and harmony with the Turkish-Azerbaijani policy in the region.
The most disastrous were the Zatulin retreats within Armenia, in the form of a line of fighters praising the role of Russia, singing the "betrayal" of Armenia, and wreaking havoc. First, various Russian Simonians and their "brother and sister figures" here began to accuse Armenia of spreading anti-Russian sentiment and treason. And, not discriminating in the means, willingly or unwillingly, they also became the defenders of Aliyev's interests in Armenia.
Thus, Avetik Chalabyan, who was engaged in business activities in Russia, founded a seasonal party in Armenia and then left politics under unclear circumstances, was involved in the team of Vazgen Manukyan and Robert Kocharian in different periods remembered not only Zatulin's "pro-Armenian and lover of Armenian land" character. Therefore, Chalayan defended Zatulin and accused the RA authorities of anti-national and anti-Russian policy. "These authorities will now try to justify that Zatulin talked about providing a corridor through the territory of Armenia and that Russia is putting pressure on Armenia in general regarding the corridor. The sad reality is that this corridor was promised to Azerbaijan by the shameful agreement of November 9 (although it is not called that, but the description corresponds to it), and under it is Pashinyan's signature."
Pay attention to the ominous wording: "that corridor was promised to Azerbaijan by the shameful agreement of November 9". For the uninformed, let's note that according to point 9 of the statement of November 9, "Armenia guarantees the safety of transport communication between the western regions of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan, to organize the unhindered movement of citizens, transport and goods in both directions."
Only God knows where businessman, philanthropist, co-founder of "Arar" Foundation, supporter of "nation-army" and "nation-Singapore" concepts, deep thinker Avetik Chalabyan saw a corridor in that ill-fated November 9 statement, except for Lachin's hall. Chalayan. Perhaps also Zatulin. And it's not enough, he knows; one more thing, wearing the cloak of Aliyev's interests defender, he specifically insists that Nikol Pashinyan's signature is under it. And that, in reality, it is not Russia that is pressuring Armenia with military force through Azerbaijan to give a "corridor," but, comes on, Pashinyan signed it.
It turns out, then, that they, turning the center of Yerevan into a stage for eating and drink and song and dance, as well as staging murders, and at the same time declaring that it is impossible to cancel the November 9 announcement, were fighting to give Aliyev a corridor. They were fighting that they should be the ones to provide a "corridor" and fulfill Aliyev's and Russia's demands. Robert Kocharyan, Dashnaktsutyun, Chalabyan, and his party members, who declared that it was impossible to cancel the November 9 announcement, were fighting for the corridor. In other words, to give a passage for Aliyev's holy demand to be fulfilled, for Russia to get control of that road it longs for, and to swallow Armenia even more with additional levers. Is this normal?
