Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan wrote on his Facebook page:
"The people of the Republic of Artsakh are hoping for today's extraordinary session of the UN Security Council, the processes that follow it, and, finally, their tangible results. This session is a litmus test not only for the actual positions and behavior of the international community around Artsakh and its specific actors but also for the legal and moral obligations assumed by the international community in preventing genocide and guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of people and peoples.
We expect and demand that the UN Security Council restore the uninterrupted and two-way movement of people, vehicles, and cargo through the Lachin Corridor according to the orders of the International Court of Justice and the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. After providing a sufficient and favorable environment and international guarantees for the lives of our people, we are ready to engage in the global process of a comprehensive and fair settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.
We have repeatedly emphasized our position that the settlement of the conflict should be primarily based on the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh and the principles of genocide prevention. Moreover, the people of Artsakh exercised their right to self-determination without disrupting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Therefore, attempts to contrast the principles of the right to self-determination and territorial integrity are irrelevant."
