It is noted that according to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination and the death certificate of the person, the cause of death of K. Hovhannisyan was "pronounced alimentary dystrophy (general exhaustion due to long-term and incomplete intake of nutrients, edema, disturbance of all forms of metabolism, with organ transformation and functional disorders), cachexia, protein-energy deficiency, kwashiorkor (a special, severe type of nutritional disorder that develops in the case of insufficient protein content in the body, the development of the disease is facilitated by harsh living conditions, low living standards), bilateral polysegmental pneumonia with a predominance of the croupous element on the right, pulmonary edema, mixed metabolic , hypoxic encephalopathy, dystrophy of internal organs: kidneys, anemia, septic condition, right-sided hydrothorax, chronic malnutrition."
"The disastrous consequences of Azerbaijan's eight-month-long blockade of Artsakh on public health are more than noticeable and tangible, which primarily affect the health situation of vulnerable groups of society: children, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, the disabled and the elderly. The catastrophic food situation caused by the blockade and especially the two-month complete siege and the resulting malnutrition and the threat of starvation, the lack of necessary medicine and the impossibility of the health system to function fully create direct and undeniable threats to the 120 thousand population of Artsakh," the statement said.
