On August 15, a meeting was held between the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic, Davit Ishkhanyan, and 3 former Speakers of the National Assembly, Georgi Petrosyan, Ashot Ghulyan, and Artur Tovmasyan. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Gagik Baghunts was present at the meeting.
Welcoming the attendees, Davit Ishkhanyan emphasized the importance of sharing experiences with former presidents for the future activities of the parliament. He noted that the meetings in this format should be an example for other state circles.
At the meeting, Ishkhanyan referred to the one-week activities of his tenure and noted that, in parallel with the internal work of the parliament, some initiatives were shown aimed at the existing problems and challenges. According to the President of the National Assembly, pieces are underway in parliamentary diplomacy to activate 8 friendly groups and circles with other countries.
At the meeting, the Speaker of the National Assembly also spoke about revitalizing relations with the RA Parliament.
The former presidents of the National Assembly welcomed the holding of such meetings. It is considered necessary to activate the work of the NA committees to emphasize cooperation with extra-parliamentary forces. The interlocutors felt it essential to take steps to raise and value the authority of the National Assembly.
