Nagorno-Karabakh

Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with ICRC President Miryana Spolyarich Eger

On August 1, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan spoke with Miryana Spolyarich Eger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor was discussed.

Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the imperative of immediately removing the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the urgency of supplying NK with food, medicine, and other necessities.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the proper and continuous provision of the ICRC, the only international humanitarian organization with access to Nagorno-Karabakh under the existing conditions, and condemned Azerbaijan's attempts to disrupt and discredit ICRC humanitarian activities. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan referred to the kidnapping of Vagif Khachatryan, who had severe health problems and was being transported from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia for treatment on July 29 by the border service of Azerbaijan, calling it an insidious and unacceptable act against the norms of international humanitarian law and aimed at the ethnic cleansing of the NK people.
