Since April 29, the transfer of medical patients from Artsakh to RA medical facilities, as well as the supply of medicine to Artsakh, has stopped.
The reason is another obstacle caused by the Azerbaijani side because, in the blocked section of the road near Shushi, the representatives of the Azerbaijani security forces demanded to carry out passport and car checks of Red Cross drivers and transported medical personnel, which was not carried out before and contradicts the norms of international humanitarian law.
During this period, two seriously ill patients were transferred from Artsakh to RA specialized medical institutions through the Russian peacekeeping troops, and 30 patients are waiting for urgent transfer. Patients need to be transported; this problem is becoming increasingly critical.
Currently, the International Committee of the Red Cross has suspended the medicine supply to the Republic of Artsakh territory, but we hope it will resume soon.
Due to the suspension of the import of medicines, planned surgeries have been stopped again in all medical institutions under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which were partially restored weeks ago. Specific efforts are being made to solve this problem, and we hope that the uninterrupted movement of the Red Cross will be fixed in a short period.
