The transfer of 28 medical patients to Armenia was cancelled, including a 9-year-old child with acute leukemia.

In the conditions of the ongoing siege of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, due to the installation of an illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint on the Artsakh-Armenia border, the transfer of 28 referred medical patients to specialized medical facilities of the Republic of Armenia was canceled in recent days. Artsakh Ministry of Health informs about this.

During the 135 days of the blockade, it was possible to transport people with urgent health problems exclusively with the mediation and accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross. During this period, 337 patients were transported to the Republic of Armenia.

"There is also a mother-to-be in the last stage of pregnancy, whose expectant baby is expected to undergo an immediate cardiac surgery immediately after the delivery, which is impossible to perform in Artsakh. Another case of canceled transportation is related to a 9-year-old little Artsakh resident with acute leukemia," the statement said.

The Ministry of Health continues official communication with the International Committee of the Red Cross to organize the transfer of the referred patients to the Republic of Armenia a day in advance.
