We have to fight while living in Artsakh; this is our slogan. Araik Harutyunyan, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, announced this on Artsakh public television. According to him, they don't even think about Artsakh being a part of Azerbaijan.
"Artsakh exists; it is governed by the main document of the state - the constitution of Karabakh, laws. The country lives by the same logic, having, of course, great territorial and human losses. It is impossible to imagine Artsakh in any other status. De facto, independence is not discussed. Of course, in terms of de jure recognition, we have a lot of time to pass, to fight, years, decades. The struggle must continue on international platforms, with different countries, friendly countries, countries that respect democracy," Araik Harutyunyan said.
He emphasized that today the situation has become more complicated, the Artsakh problem is being subordinated, and reasonable proposals are not being presented.
"This does not prevent us from realizing the norm of self-determination of nations of the UN Charter, and our struggle will be within its framework. The best formula to keep Artsakh Armenian is to fight while living in Artsakh. My family and I have chosen that path," said the President of the Republic of Artsakh, adding that the years of struggle come to nothing by leaving Artsakh.
Araik Harutyunyan highly appreciated the role of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh. He emphasized that he could not imagine the future of Artsakh without the guarantee of the Russian Federation.
The Artsakh president also noted that housing construction and economic programs are actively developing, there is an increase in the birth rate, and they will soon reach all the pre-war indicators. "We will continue to turn Artsakh into a fortress and Artsakh Armenians into an army."
