Nagorno-Karabakh

Answers specific questions with historical references

Radar Armenia sent a written request to Araik Harutyunyan, President of Armenia, asking him to answer three specific questions regarding the settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its history. First, the written request from the central information department of the President's Office of the Republic of Artsakh was forwarded to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, who answered the specific questions with historical deviations.

We were interested in why it was impossible to reach a compromise settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue after the April 2016 war. Did the NK political elite disagree with the possible solutions on the table? In this regard, we quoted the Speaker of the Nagorno-Karabakh Parliament, Artur Tovmasyan, in 2020. the following statement was made on November 28. "After the April 2016 war, the third president of the RA, Serzh Sargsyan, and the former president of the Republic of Armenia, Bako Sahakyan, met with 22 deputies. Serzh Sargsyan urged us to agree to the surrender of seven regions. We said that the Madrid principles do not express the fundamental interests of the Armenian people. He also said that you had heard the song "Ghars, Ghars" many times; if you refuse the principles of Madrid, you will one day hear the song "Stepanakert, Stepanakert." He said very harshly. I remembered those words of Serzh Sargsyan on November 9, when Stepanakert was empty and deserted, and the enemy was several kilometers away from the city.

In response to this question, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh made a historical excursion, explaining the peculiarities of the formation of ethnopolitics in Azerbaijan.

To our second very well-worded question, are you aware of the "Krakowyan" proposals presented in January 2018? Did they promise a balanced solution, and were there sufficient prerequisites for their implementation? The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh answered: "I think in answer to the previous question, the answer to that question was also given."

To inform the public, we present the complete answers received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh.
