Today, a meeting of the leaders of the 5 Artsakh parliamentary forces with the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping forces was held.
In a conversation with Radar Armenia, the head of the "Free Homeland-CMD" faction of the Armenian National Assembly, Artur Harutyunyan, informed that the discussion with the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping troops was based on 2 issues. "The first was the issue related to the new road, the corridor. The second is the statement recently made by the Russian ambassador-advisor in Armenia that until the new road is ready, the peacekeepers will not move."
Harutyunyan elaborated that as a result of the discussions, the head of the peacekeeping force stated that they had in mind the alternative road, which should be put into operation by the end of the month. "The Azerbaijani side assured that they will not operate the new road until it is ready and all the security components are in line with the logic of the corridor."
Artur Harutyunyan also added. "We will cross Shushi through the Old Shen-Mets Shen section; then, we will reach the territory of Armenia through the bridge built over the river. And from there, the road should have left through Kornidzor, but the alternative road does not reach Kornidzor. The alternative road will be operated until the end of the month. It is a 4.5 km road and is currently being improved. It is the upper part of Aghavno; it bypasses Aghavno and continues through Tegh village."
We asked Harutyunyan if issues related to connection and communications were discussed during the meeting. The MP elaborated that a part of electricity and communication will pass by the new road, their project is already there, and additional discussions are needed regarding gas.
The leader of the "Free Motherland-CMD" faction informed that the second question was related to the August escalation. "The head of the Russian peacekeeping troop stated that they have also drawn conclusions and will try to avoid such incidents because the Azerbaijani side violates the ceasefire regime."
